So apparently you shouldn’t pick blackberries after 29th September (Michaelmas) as the Devil may have spat on them!  Interesting.  I am sure that Waitrose wouldn’t entertain the idea of selling blackberries with added sputum.  However get picking as Michaelmas is just round the corner.
